Hello I'd like to introduce myself.. I'm Dena and I have a daughter Cara who is in my profile pic.. she is 28 and has ASD, Seizures, hydrocephalus..and is non verbal..I realize that I am one of the older parents here.. but always open to learning.. my grandson by marriage is 6 now and has ASD PDD/nos.. and some hearing impairments.. I am happlily married for 11-1/2 years now to Gary and he is being a wonderful father figure to my daughter.. when I first learned of Autism Cara was to be "labelled" in BC Canada where we lived at the time when she was 10 yrs old in order for her to get extra private speeech therapy and thay said that she has Autistic Tendancies.. since then and moving back to Alberta they tell me that diagnosis is not used anymore and it's now ASD..I don't see a lot of Autism in Cara but some little things now and then.. she understands a lot fo waht is said or asked of her.. she just doesn't speak but tries too..The Neurologist said the seizure took away her bit of speech she ahd before she was 7 yrs old.. butg I always thought it was the medications??
