About Brian

A Mesmerizing Presenter . . . When Brian and I put on an Asperger’s conference at Knox Presbyterian Church he spoke for a full day to the 300 plus in attendance.  They were mesmerized by his wisdom and advice on Asperger’s. Brian is very straight forward and offers lots of great advice to folks on the spectrum and to parents dealing with their kids on the spectrum.  Brian has also spoken to my parent Asperger’s Support group and he draws the biggest crowd I ever get at our meetings.   He attended one of our meetings last month and everyone looks to Brian as the expert. They find his advice helpful and very insightful.  I always tell people that Brian understands Asperger’s better than anyone I know.  He is a very engaging speaker who is very easy to listen to and adds humor by design but often simply through his straight forward talk without even realizing how funny he is.

"I am defined by my dreams and my commitment to achieving them and not by any label that tries to tell me otherwise." - Brian R. King

I want you to picture for a moment that client, family member, student, employee that you never feel like your communication works with.

You never seem to be on exactly the same page, there are always little conflicts or misunderstandings and there just seems to be something missing.

My name is Brian King and I am the Founder of Spectrum Mentor. We provide one on one coaching, key notes and workshops for families and businesses that are looking to improve the results that they get from their work together.

One of our most popular programs is No More Misunderstandings that empower families and companies of all kinds, including those with members on the Autism Spectrum and other Developmental Disabilities, to grow together as a team and equip their members not only with the power to communicate but the ability to meet life’s challenges and find their own way as they grow.

I am currently looking to connect with speaking opportunities and great strategic partners like schools, educational parenting groups and companies that communication and relationship challenges.

Spectrum Mentor, where families, businesses and communities grow together . . .

Meet Brian

Brian R. King is a parent, a husband, a brother, a son, a mentor, a presenter, but first and foremost he's a friend. He is different things to different people, just like you.

He has strengths and challenges, hopes and fears, just like you.
He has things that get him down but even more things that lift him up, like you do.
He has things he is passionate about and things he could care less about, the same as you.

He has things he is extremely good at and that others look to him for, just like you.
He has times he needs help and turns to his friends for advice and support, the same as you.
Like you, he wants to know that when his kids grow up, they will be able to make their way through the world, confidently, because he's prepared them with the best possible tools for doing so.

Like you, Brian isn't able to do it alone. He realizes that the quality of our lives is only as good as the quality of our relationships.

As an adult on the autism spectrum, with A.D.D. and having survived cancer at the age of 18, Brian has become a model of perseverance in the face of adversity and has mastered the art of turning obstacles into opportunitites.

Brian is a father of three sons on the autism spectrum and they draw strength from each other as they work to make the every day relationships of their lives work as effectively as possible so their lives can be truly fulfilling.

You know which relationships in your life are the ones that have and are currently making your life better, and are making you better, don't you? The more relationships you have like that the better your life is. Relationships are complex, often confusing and can be a source of great joy or pain. They are also the source of our greatest strength, which is why they must be the highest priority in your life.

Starting with the relationship you have with yourself.

As A Parent

You know that neither you or your child can make it in this world without asking for help from those around you don't you?

Brian realized this also and sees his life improve exponentially the more he reaches out to others for help instead of trying to figure it out on his own.

After all, if we were meant to go it alone in this world the universe wouldn't have given us each other. The key is to learn how to utilize each other in a way that builds us up instead of tearing us down, moves us forward instead of holding us back.

You know how hard it is to find relationships like this yourself let alone trying to teach your child how to do it, right?

You wish that someone who has figured out how to find the courage to ask for help, and make relationships be the best they can be could teach you to do the same. Isn't that right?

Imagine what it would be like to have relationships where you felt accepted for who you are and felt energized when you were with those people. Have you ever had that experience, would you like to have it more often?

How can you teach your child to do the same?

Let's Do It Together

Everything Brian has accomplished in his life is a direct result of his committment to learning how to have close, fulfilling relationships and not letting being on the autism spectrum or having A.D.D. stand in his way.

The challenges you feel you have in life DO NOT define you, finding the courage to work through them and grow from them is what defines you.

Brian didn't succeed on his own and neither will you or your children, we can only succeed together.

That's why Brian consults and speaks nationwide, providing his groundbreaking insights and strategies for Become The Champion of Your Life, Find Your Every Day Courage and Learning To Live From The Strength of Your Inner Hero. He consults with parents, teachers, employers and more. As a cancer survivor, an adult with Asperger's and ADD, the husband of a woman on the Spectrum, as well as the father of three boys on the Autism Spectrum, Brian has the most comprehensive experience around regarding what it takes to live fully in spite of your challenges, and creating meaningful, lasting relationships.

Like you he understands that learning how to relate effectively with others is the key to succeeding in this world.

That's why he's devoting his life to teaching you how to make your relationships what you want them to be. Then he teaches you how to teach your child to do the same.

Brian has effectively captured and organized his most effective strategies into his Parenting with Purpose Community and a series of popular books. His workshops and in-services are making him increasingly sought after by school districts, community organizations and conference planners alike.

As a Presenter, Coach, and Mentor Brian trains his clients, ranging from parents, teachers, job coaches and individuals to develop and implement customized communication strategies for increasing collaboration, and virtually eliminating miscommunications in their relationships.

He teaches them to tap into their inner strengths to keep them in action, moving forward until they get the results they want.

Brian's thoughts have been cited in various books and publications including Autism Life Skills: From Communication and Safety to Self-Esteem and More - 10 Essential AbilitiesEvery Child Needs and Deserves to Learn, and Autism File Magazine.
